RACHEL ALBERT | stage 336 | MA
I'm running because the Boston Marathon has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. So much so I don't consider it Patriot's Day, it is Marathon Monday in my book.
Every year my family would head to the mile 21 area with our Canadian flag as spectator's, most years never knowing a single runner. For me it was never about seeing the lead runners come through, it was about being there for those who came through 3+ hours after the race had started: cheering them on until we lost our voices forever in awe of their determination to never stop until Boylston St and never leaving until the Hoyt's came by.
Running took on a new meaning for me a few years ago when I set out on a path to change my life. Never could I have imagined how amazingly painful & wonderful running could be at the same time, nor could I have imagined how welcoming the running community could be. An amazing person once said to me "It doesn't matter if you run 3miles or 26.2 miles, the only important thing is you ran and you did it"  (THANK YOU Phil!)
I am grateful to have the opportunity to help those impacted by the events of last year. Out of something so horrible came something even more beautiful, a bond that will never be broken.
Please consider sponsoring me as I run the last leg of this amazing journey!
