I'm running because I want to honor and support the Boston marathon bombing survivors and those who came to their aid to give back to the running community that has made my life in Boston so spectacular! Last Saturday at this time, the Santa Monica sun was blazing as I cheered on my cousin Constantine and his girlfriend Genevieve in running the first 8 mile leg of this incredible relay across America to give back to the survivors, and honor the heroic first responders and running community at large that makes Boston such a revered city to finish -- whether it's your first marathon or next mile, running changed my life and is a gift I'm proud to help give back to those who had it taken away by this tragedy, and are still working harder than imaginable every day not just to resume their daily activities but to surpass their wildest expectations of themselves in spite of it!! "It may be impossible to be invincible, but maybe's it's possible to be impossible!!?!"
Running my entire leg in under ten minute miles is a big challenge that I will spend the next six weeks committing to in order to finish Boston strong! When I started training, I could only run 15 minutes at a ten minute mile pace, and yesterday I finished a 10K at 1.09.08; 2.38 seconds faster than ever, but still aways from consistently clocking in at over 6 mph as I intend to do on April 13th!!! Now I am training indoors and out to get faster each week with your support! So many of you have run alongside me, and not just in spirit, throughout the years and for that I am SO grateful!! I really couldn't do this without you, each step of the way... Thank you for being a part of this incredible journey and please join me in giving back today.
